Description of Program
Klamath Community College’s Culinary Arts Program is designed to provide the technical skills and basic knowledge for students interested in a professional food services career. This program is a hands-on theory-based delivery for professional chefs and food service managers. Graduates of this program will possess the knowledge to advance and become chefs, kitchen and restaurant managers, cooks, and restaurant owners.
Klamath Community College’s Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts Food Service Management will appeal to a wide variety of students. This program will have introductory courses for individuals seeking employable skills in the fundamentals of cookery, safety and sanitation. This AAS degree will have students that advance into a technical core that prepares them for a whole host of occupational skills that hotel restaurant managers, dining service managers, and food service managers need. Students will also gain the specialty knowledge of restaurant owners, chefs, and cooks that understand local value added sustainability in dining. Klamath Community College expects transition workers to enroll in this degree along with participants from twelve area high schools whom are interested in a culinary profession.
