This accelerated EMT course (EMT 151, 152) is a 10 credit class. These courses are designed to provide instruction and preparation for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic practical and written exams. If you are accepted into the program you will enroll in EMT 151 and EMT 151L for the first half of the term for a total of five credits. If you pass EMT 151 you will then be given permission to enroll in EMT 152 and EMT 152L. Upon completion of this five credit class you will be able to take the National Registry EMT-Basic written exam. EMT students will learn skills which can save lives and limit debilitative injuries in emergency situations. The course components include classroom lecture, skills lab, and clinical practice in a healthcare setting.

Student will be contacted via email with information for filling out and submitting an interview questionnaire.
Students are then sent either an EMT program acceptance letter or a letter of admission denial. Anyone who is denied entry is welcome to reapply for the next EMT session when it is offered.
Must show proof of items listed below before you are invited to Phase II admissions interview.
KCC Placement Test
Prior to being accepted into the EMT class, students must complete the placement test or present official transcripts including a math score of at least 50% on decimals and 50% on fractions or show proof of successful completion of MTH 010. Also required is a writing placement combined score of at least 42 or successful completion of LGS 080. The placement test can be taken by appointment through the Learning Resources Center, please call 880-2206 to schedule your appointment. This placement test is a no cost exam. You must show proof of all items listed below:
High school graduation or GED.
Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR card.
Tuberculosis (TB) skin test results or chest x-ray (within the last 12 months).
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunization (if born after 12/31/56 you must have received this immunization twice).
Tetanus immunization (within the past 5-10 years).
Hepatitis B Immunization series with the first immunization shot being required before registering or proof of Hepatitis Titer showing immunity to Hepatitis B.
Student will receive an email if invited to participate in Phase II.
If you will be a first-time credit student at KCC, speak with a Student Services Representative for information about admissions, financial aid, placement testing, and transferring credit from another college must be officially evaluated by the Registrar prior to application deadline. You can stop by Student Services or visit the KCC web for more information about official transcript evaluation.
As part of the EMT course, all students must complete 8 hours of clinical time at Sky Lakes Medical Center. Clinical rotations start approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the course start date. Prior to clinical rotations students are required to submit to a drug screen and background check by the institution providing the clinical setting such as Sky Lakes Medical Center. Students with inappropriate results will not be allowed to complete the KCC EMT course, but will still be charged for the course.
Once the preregistration requirements are met and you have passed the admission interview you will be approved to register for the class. Enrollment is limited to 20 students so please read the information carefully, and be proactive about the requirements.

Practical Exam fee of $95.00 to be paid four (4) weeks prior to testing date.
National Registry EMT - Intermediate Fee of approximately $75.00 to be paid online at the end of the course to the National Registry.
Required immunizations for program entry.
If you have resided or worked outside the state of Oregon for 60 or more consecutive days during the past 5 years, you are required to complete an out-of-state criminal history check. The fee for this is $47.25. Along with this you will have to submit a finger print card that is furnished by the state. The fee of finger printing by the Sheriff’s Office is currently $35.00
Passport Photo for state approximately $5.00-10.00
Clinical fees at Sky Lake Medical center include: background check ($25.00) payable to SLMC Human Resources, and drug screen ($44.00) payable to Center of Occupational Health.

Financial Aid Information
Students receiving Federal Financial Aid should be aware that financial aid for the EMT 152 class will not be disbursed until successful completion of EMT 151 is documented and the add/drop period for the EMT 152 has ended. Please see the Financial Aid Officer for any questions.
