Search Engines for Online Research
Many search engines and subject directories are available for your research. Click the links below to visit a few of the most popular.
General Search Engines
Meta Search Engines
Meta search engines search the results of other search engines. This can save you time, but also requires more planning of the search. Meta search engines produce more results, but may require a better phrased search to produce fewer, more relevant, results.
Subject Directories
Subject directories organize results into subject categories. This can simplify searching if you have a broad idea of the information you want, but don't have specific search words in mind to make the search.
Visual Search Engine
For searchers who are very visually oriented, a visual "mind map" style search engine might be a perfect fit.
Check out the Kart00 Visual Search Engine.
Help with Citation Styles
Many online sites provide information and examples for citing sources, both in the text and on the reference page.
