Miller Foundation Grant
The College received notification that the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation -- an independent, private organization established to enhance the quality of life of Oregonians through support of the arts and education -- is providing a total of $1.5 million to Oregon’s 17 community colleges in individual amounts ranging from $50,000 to $320,000 for scholarship assistance for the 2009-10 academic year. To access these funds, each college or its foundation must raise matching scholarship funds that exceed scholarship dollars raised during Fiscal Year 2007-08. Klamath Community College could potentially receive up to $50,000 in additional scholarship funding.
The Klamath Community College Foundation currently awards scholarships in a variety of areas. The Miller Foundation scholarship funds if fully matched, could provide more than 80 additional scholarships, which would benefit some of the most financially strapped students in our area.
"This is an incredible opportunity for Oregon’s community colleges in helping students realize their dream of attaining a certificate or associates degree," states Renée Ferguson, Dean for Administrative Services for Klamath Community College.
For each dollar donated by an individual, business, or organization for scholarships, another is provided by the Miller Foundation.
