Orientation ~ Planning ~ Advising ~ Counseling ~ Career Planning

Orientation
New Student Orientation is an introduction to KCC and is scheduled prior to each term, usually on the Thursday before the first day of classes. Orientation includes an overview of college resources and student support services. All first-time credit students planning to enroll in a degree, certificate, or diploma program, and all who are accumulating a significant number of credits toward a transfer degree, are strongly encouraged to attend an Orientation session prior to the start of their first term. Contact a Student Services Representative for Orientation dates and times.

Program Planning
Student Services Representatives can explain the wide range of program options and help students select an appropriate course of study. Please see a Student Services representative about class scheduling or to ask questions.

Transfer Advising
Catalogs and application materials for Oregon colleges and universities are available in the Student Services office. Students planning to transfer to another institution must work closely with a transfer advisor at the transfer college to be sure the KCC program will meet the requirements of that institution.

Personal Counseling: Solutions
Personal counseling is available through Solutions Counseling Services. Students needing counseling services are encouraged to make an appointment at no cost. Services are totally confidential and available Monday - Friday. Call for an appointment: 541-885-4548.

Career Planning Services
Career planning and job search resources are available in the Learning Resources Center [LRC]. The materials offer a variety of approaches to assist in exploring career options and in seeking employment.

Career Planning Programs
Computer-based career planning programs are available through the LRC to assist students in exploring career options. These programs ask questions concerning interests, abilities, and preferences. The programs then analyze the responses and print various types of reports including career options, ratings on selected job skills and/or career information including the size of the occupation, the average salary range, types of work performed, abilities and training needed, job outlook and college information. Additional materials explore resumé preparation, interview skills and related job-search issues.
