College Survival and Success
College Survival and Success [CGS 100] includes information to assist students in choosing a major as well as
understanding the theory and practical side of job searching. College Survival and Success helps students deal
with uncertainties and make decisions based on accurate personal and career information.
Job Referral Services
Part-time and full-time job vacancies are posted on a bulletin board in the lobby of
Building 3.
Cooperative Work Experience
Cooperative Work Experience [CWE] is a program in which students can apply learned theory in a practical,
live business setting. CWE is available in all professional-technical curricula. When students have completed
the required basic course work, they and their Academic Advisor will develop a career-related job experience
program, earning college credit, and in some cases, wages. For further information, contact the program Academic
Advisor [see page 26].
KCC Student Leadership and Organizations
Leadership opportunities include serving on a campus governance committee or joining or forming a club.
Students may learn valuable leadership opportunities, develop friendships, and establish beneficial contacts
with college faculty and staff and local business persons. Students may also have the opportunity to attend
leadership training workshops and to provide leadership in developing activities for other students on campus.
Campus governance committees include Learning Affairs, Support Services, and Health and
Safety. One student per year also is selected to serve as a non-voting member of the KCC Board of Education.
At this time, there are a small number of recognized campus clubs. More are on the way. If you have an
idea for a club, please see the Student Affairs Specialist in Building 3.
