Criminal Actions ~ Security

Reporting of Criminal Actions
KCC, in conformity with the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, title II of Pub. L. 101 542, requires that all criminal actions and other emergencies occurring on campus or at off-campus college activities or locations be reported to the Office of the Dean for Administrative Services.

The College will annually collect and disclose to its employees and students all information relating to campus security procedures and practices, and crime awareness and prevention. For more information on campus security and reporting, please see the Campus Security brochure, Student Handbook, or view the information on the campus web site at: http://www.klamathcc.edu.

Security of, and Access to, College Facilities
The campus is a safe and secure place, but we need your help. There are some common sense things you can do for your personal safety.

  • Don’t walk alone, especially at night.
  • Ask a friend for a ride
  • Walk in well-lit areas. Avoid dark places.
  • Keep your keys in your hand, they’re a good defense.
  • Keep your head up and look alert.
  • Keep your purse/pack tucked close to your body.
  • If you’re followed, turn to look at the person so he/she knows you won’t be taken by surprise. Cross the street, change direction, and vary your pace. If the person persists, go to a lighted building for help.
  • Trust your instincts. If a situation seems dangerous, get away.
Campus facilities will generally be open when classes are in session. Offices, support spaces, and some instructional spaces may be locked to protect College property, personal property, and to protect individuals from possible injury. Keys to facilities are issued only to authorized College representatives. Security issues or concerns should be communicated to the Dean for Administrative Services.
