KCC - OIT Cooperation
KCC and Oregon Institute of Technology [OIT] have worked together since the inception of the Klamath Community College Service District. KCC purchases spaces in OIT class sections to provide students a broader variety of general education courses at a wider range of times.

Library services and opportunities for research are available through an agreement with OIT, as are access to the OIT bookstore, health and wellness services, the gymnasium, and the pool. Some of these services require additional fees for KCC students. Contact OIT for additional information.

KCC will continue to expand collaborative arrangements with OIT and other accredited colleges in response to needs identified in the South Central Oregon service area.

Community, Contract, and Continuing Education
Community, Contract, and Continuing Education courses are designed for specific occupational training or personal, professional, or recreational interest, but are not part of a two-year degree or one-year certificate program. KCC offers non-credit classes, workshops, seminars and conferences to meet the needs of the community.

Small Business Development
KCC works with Oregon Institute of Technology to provide small business assistance for the district. The Small Business Development Center at OIT provides counseling services, while KCC provides training to small businesses in the District. For more information, contact KCC’s Community, Contract and Continuing Education office at 541-882-3521.

Who May Enroll
To be admitted, a student must meet at least one of the following entrance requirements:

  1. graduate from a regionally accredited secondary high school who has met all requirements for a full high school diploma. Modified diplomas are not accepted.
  2. student who has earned a GED Certificate of Equivalency or an Adult High School Diploma.
  3. non-high school graduate, 18 years old or older, whose high school class has graduated and who has achieved acceptable scores on the placement test.

  5. high school students who meet special student admissions requirements: a completed high school referral form, acceptable scores on placement testing, and an admissions interview with the Student Affairs Specialist.
  6. some programs may have additional admissions requirements. See specific programs for details.
To enroll in classes, a prospective student must demonstrate ability to benefit from the instruction. The ability to benefit from instruction is defined as the ability to achieve the skill level or knowledge to apply the subject matter in an academic or practical situation. The College reserves the right to independently ascertain if a person can benefit from instruction. If the College determines the person cannot benefit from the instruction and the person has enrolled at the College, the College will disenroll the student and refund the student’s tuition and fees. Under no circumstance will the College allow a person simply to participate in or attend a course; the person must be able to benefit from the instruction.

Disability Accommodations
Disability-related accommodations for admissions are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please call the Student Affairs Specialist at 541-882-3521.

Placement Tests
Students applying for admission to a degree or certificate program, enrolling in more that six credits, or wishing to enroll in a math, writing, or language skills course, a class with a math or writing prerequisite, or entry into any program requiring assessment in writing or math, must first take a placement assessment. The results are used to determine the initial level of math, writing, or language skills at which the student demonstrates the greatest potential for success. The assessments are for placement purposes and determination of ability to profit from instruction. Placement testing is offered at the Student Services Office in KCC’s main building. Call Student Services at 541-882-3521 for assessment times. A placement test may be required for students taking some non-credit classes, though not all classes require such testing. Disability-related accommodations for Placement Testing are considered on a case-by-case basis. To make arrangements, contact the Student Affairs Specialist at 541-882-3521.
