Money Matters

Special information:
  • The Federal Financial Aid Processor will send the student a Student Aid Report [SAR] indicating the student’s eligibility;
  • Eligibility may be transferred to any post-secondary school participating in federal programs.
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant
This grant is federally funded. Funds are awarded to the school in lump sums and the College selects eligible students and determines award amounts.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Students must not have a Bachelor’s degree;
  • Students must be Pell Grant eligible;
  • Students must have unmet need in their package.
Available amounts:
  • Federal limits ranged from $100 to $4,000 per year for 2007-2008;
  • The full time award at KCC for 2007-2008 was $840.
Special information:
  • The Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility and notify students.
Oregon Opportunity Grant
The program is funded by the State of Oregon and administered by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission. Students must meet the requirements for state residency.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Students must not have a Bachelor’s degree;
  • Students must be Pell Grant eligible;
  • Students must have unmet need in their package.
Available amounts:
  • Amounts are based on state funding and award amounts are determined by the state;
  • Community college awards for 2008-2009 will range from $400 to $2,600;
  • Funding is available for full- and part-time students.
Special information:
  • Grants may be transferred to other Oregon colleges and universities.;
  • Grants may be awarded for up to 12 quarters/terms or for 3 semesters;
  • Students must not be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in theology, divinity, or religious education.
