Student Leadership
Leadership opportunities include serving on campus governance committees or
joining or forming clubs. Students may gain valuable leadership skills, develop
friendships, and establish beneficial contacts with college faculty and staff and local
business persons. Students may also have the opportunity to attend leadership
training workshops and to provide leadership in developing activities for other
students on campus.
At this time, a small number of campus clubs exist. If you have an idea for a club,
please see someone in the Student Representatives Office in Building 3.
Currently operative clubs include:
Phi Theta Kappa [Honor Society]
Students in Free Enterprise
Science Club
Veterans Club
Asian Cultural Exchange
KCC Crusaders
Student Participation in Institutional Governance
As members of the college community, students are free to express their views on
issues of institutional policy and matters of general interest to the student body.
Students may participate in formulating and applying policies and procedures
affecting academic and student affairs through student leadership, college councils,
and committees.
Campus governance councils and committees include the Board of Education,
Learning Affairs Council, Support Services Council, Health and Safety Committee,
Information Resources/Library Advisory Committee, and a variety of department
advisory committees. Annually, a Student Representative is selected to serve as a
non-voting member of the KCC Board of Education.
