| General Education: | Introduces students to the content and methodology of the major areas
of knowledge in order to develop the critical thinking skills necessary to be effective learners. General Education requirements are included in
all degrees and certificates offered by KCC. |

| Non-Credit Course: | Student assessment is not required of these courses. Students learn at
their own pace and the depth of learning is controlled by the individual
student. |

| Part-Time Enrollment: | Student is registered for fewer than 12 credit hours per term. |
| |
| Prior Experiential Learning [credit for]: | Credit granted toward the award of a certificate or degree for prior
learning experiences that can be shown through various means of
assessment to be the equivalent of learning gained through formal
collegiate instruction. Credit granted in this manner is noted on the
student’s transcript and cannot constitute more than 25% of the
credits needed for a degree or certificate. |

| Program: | A systematic, usually sequential, grouping of courses forming a
considerable part, or all, of the requirements for a degree or certificate. |
| |
| Sequence: | Three successive terms of a course such as Biology 101-102-103 or
History of the U.S. 201-202-203. |
| |
| Subject: | A designated field of knowledge such as History or English. |
| |
| Substitution: | With faculty approval, a student may substitute courses completed at
other regionally accredited institutions of higher learning for KCC
courses. Decisions on and rules for substitutions are found in the KCC
Academic Policy Handbook located in the Learning Resources Center. |
Educational Offerings
As a comprehensive community college, KCC seeks to serve the needs of its
District by providing college preparatory degrees and vocational degrees and
certificates. Many college offerings are tailored to serve the needs of local business
and industry. In addition, the College offers Adult Basic Education [ABE], High
School Equivalency [GED] certificates, and English as a Second Language [ESL]
courses through Klamath Adult Learning Center.
