Professional-Technical Program High School Student Scholarship
Pilot Program, Dependent On Funding
Population Served:
High School students interested in Professional-Technical Klamath Community College degrees, who have completed their Sophomore year, who have not graduated from high school and who are 16 years of age or older, who are currently reside in Klamath County and are enrolled in Klamath City Schools, Klamath County Schools, or regionally accredited parochial schools in Klamath County. Home schooled students are not eligible.
For:
Credit class tuition only. The scholarship does not cover fees, including technology fees, student ID fees, or other class fees. Books and supplies are not covered by the scholarship. All applicable fees must be paid by the first day of the term in which enrollment occurs. The scholarship will only cover tuition for the Professional-Technical Education course. Tuition and fees for the developmental course(s) are not covered by this scholarship. Professional-Technical Education courses will continue to be covered by the scholarship while the student remains enrolled in an eligible high school.
Procedure:
Students must take the Klamath Community College placement assessment and are permitted to take it a maximum of once for each year (Sophomore, Junior and Senior), but it may be taken during any scheduled time available during the year. AP credit will not be accepted in lieu of the above assessment
Eligibility:
Students must assess at placement scores meeting the minimum ability to benefit in Reading, Writing and Mathematics sub-assessments to be minimally eligible for the scholarship. Students must be in a regular high school diploma program. Modified diploma programs are not eligible. Students must also abide by current Underage Student Admission procedures, which will include: 1) Current High School Student Permission form completed with permission granted from the high school (counselor or principal), and parent/guardian; 2) permission granted by the Dean for Student Services after an interview with the student and parent/guardian. Other forms/information may be required to complete the registration and record keeping process of the College. The College reserves the right to not accept an underage student.
Responsibilities:
Students must be degree seeking and declare a degree. The scholarship is for credit courses only. Students will complete college mathematics and writing requirements as soon scheduling permits. The student must be concurrently enrolled in Writing, Mathematics, and a Professional Technical course until the student successfully completes MTH111 and WRI121, unless the student assessed into both courses. Students must maintain financial aid satisfactory academic progress, as defined by KCC Financial Aid guidelines. All courses must be passed with a grade of "C" or better. A student is eligible for a maximum of 90 credits up to a maximum of 11 terms, while concurrently enrolled in an eligible high school as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior. Students must abide by all KCC policies and procedures, including the student code of responsible behavior. Violation of College policies and procedures will result, at minimum, in the loss of the scholarship. Students are responsible for travel to and from Klamath Community College. Applicability of KCC courses to meet high school graduation credit requirements is within the purview of the high school, not the College. Disability accommodations are the responsibility of the student and the high school.
Registration:
Students may register one week after registration begins for currently enrolled and other eligible students. Registration prior to the one week deadline will result in the College performing an Administrative Drop on any enrolled courses and the loss of the scholarship. Students who have assessed into developmental mathematics or writing courses must enroll in all currently eligible developmental course work, plus one course in a Professional-Technical Education prefix.
