Pilot Program, Dependent On Funding

Population Served:
High School Sophomores and Juniors who are 16 years of age or older, who are currently reside in Klamath County and are enrolled in Klamath City Schools, Klamath County Schools, or regionally accredited parochial schools in Klamath County. Home schooled students are not eligible.

For:
Credit class tuition only. The scholarship does not cover fees, including technology fees, student ID fees, or other class fees. Books and supplies are not covered by the scholarship. All applicable fees must be paid by the first day of the term in which enrollment occurs.

Procedure:
Students must take the Klamath Community College placement assessment and are permitted to take it a maximum of once for each academic year (Sophomore and Junior), but it may be taken during any scheduled time available during the year. Summer term begins the academic year. Advanced Placement (AP) credit will not be accepted in lieu of the above assessment.

Eligibility:
This is a seat availability scholarship and students in this program are not permitted to displace continuing students who have been given the opportunity to register for classes. Students must assess into MTH111 College Algebra and WRI121 College Composition to be minimally eligible for the scholarship. Students must also abide by current Underage Student Admission procedures, which will include: 1) Current High School Student Permission form completed with permission granted from the high school (counselor or principal), and parent/guardian; 2) permission granted by the Dean for Student Services after an interview with the student and parent/guardian. Other forms/information may be required to complete the registration and record keeping process of the College. The College reserves the right to not accept an underage student.

Responsibilities:
Students must be degree seeking and declare a degree. The scholarship is for credit courses only. Students will complete mathematics and writing requirements as soon scheduling permits. Students can begin in Fall, Winter or Spring terms, but are not permitted to begin in Summer term. Students can continue in Summer term, if eligible and enrolled in one of the three previous terms. Students must maintain financial aid satisfactory academic progress, as defined by KCC Financial Aid guidelines. A student is eligible for a maximum of 90 credits over 8 terms, while concurrently enrolled in an eligible high school as a Sophomore or Junior. Students must abide by all KCC policies and procedures, including the student code of responsible behavior. Violation of College policies and procedures will result, at minimum, in the loss of the scholarship. A violation may result in an impact on academic probation, academic or conduct suspension, future financial aid eligibility and future access to educational opportunities. Students are responsible for travel to and from Klamath Community College. Applicability of KCC courses to meet high school graduation credit requirements is within the purview of the high school, not the College. Disability accommodations are the responsibility of the student and the high school.

Registration:
Students may register one week after registration begins for currently enrolled and other eligible students. Registration prior to the one week deadline will result in the College performing an Administrative Drop on any enrolled courses and the loss of the scholarship.
