Ako Eyong, a political refugee from Cameroon, author of Vision of the Blind King and the “Painter of the White Dove,” will be speaking at Klamath Community College Friday, May 9, at 6:00 p.m. in Building 4. The presentation, during which Eyong will discuss his life in Cameroon and his art, which was critical of the government and led to him having to flee the country for his own safety, is free and open to the public.
Through his presentation, attendees will learn about Cameroon, the lingering impacts of colonialism, how art can be both aesthetic and political, and much more.
Eyong will be speaking to various student and community groups during his stay in Klamath Falls, but the Friday evening presentation at KCC is the best opportunity for the public to hear him speak.
Eyong’s artwork will be on public display in Building 4 at KCC from noon Thursday, May 8 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 9.
