Klamath Community College and the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field have agreed on a partnership that will provide opportunities for Airmen stationed at Kingsley Field.

Klamath Community College and the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field have entered into a new partnership designed to provide quality education leading to promotion opportunities for Airmen stationed at Kingsley Field. Under the agreement, KCC will offer classes to service members and their families on site at Kingsley Field.

The classes are designed specifically to articulate with the Community College of the Air Force’s degree programs, which, beginning in 2015, will be required for some promotions within the Air Force. According to the memorandum of understanding, which was signed this week, benefits of the partnership include “the ability for Airmen to complete their CCAF degree in a more efficient manner.”

The agreement allows KCC’s veterans representative access to Kingsley Field in order to register students and provide information and academic advising. “We are very pleased to be able to work with such a strong partner,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez. “The 173rd Fighter Wing plays a vital and important role in this community, and we are proud to be able to offer educational services that will benefit its members.”

In addition to offering courses at Kingsley Field, KCC will serve as the testing site for Airmen seeking to earn CCAF credit through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test, a process by which members can receive full college credit for courses by simply passing a test and proving proficiency.

"We are proud to be partnered with Klamath Community College,” said Col. Jeremy Baenen, 173rd Fighter Wing commander. “This is an excellent opportunity for our Airmen to further their education, and for Klamath Community College to expand its student base.  Additionally, this partnership highlights the power of the Public-Public, Public-Private Partnership Program, maximizing the return on taxpayers’ investment in their community."
