KCC to Host Veterans Honorable Service Medal Ceremony
Klamath Community College is pleased to announce that it will host the Field of Honor traveling veterans memorial May 23 – 28. The memorial features hundreds of American flags, which will be on display between Buildings 5 and 6 on campus, as well as the Veterans Honorable Service Medal Ceremony, which will take place twice, once on Friday, May 24, then again on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Both ceremonies will begin at 3:00 p.m. Medal recipients are asked to check in at 2:00 p.m.
All veterans, alive or deceased, who were honorably discharged and those currently serving are eligible to receive this prestigious award, which will be presented on behalf of the citizens of the State of Oregon.
Those taking part in the ceremony must pre-register, a process that can be completed by filling out a registration packet, which is available at the front desk of Building 3 at KCC. . Proof of honorable service is required, and veterans must provide form DD-214, name, date of birth and the last four numbers of their social security number. An engraver will be on hand following the ceremonies to personalize medals for a nominal fee.
The Field of Honor traveling memorial that will be on display from May 23 – 28 is free and open to the public, as are the ceremonies at 3:00 p.m. on May 24 and May 27.
