Klamath Small Business Development Center Moves to KCC
After spending its first 28 years at Oregon Institute of Technology, the Klamath Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is relocating to Klamath Community College, effective July 1, 2012. The SBDC offers free, one-on-one counseling on a confidential basis to help business owners start, expand, or—in some cases—stay in business. The center offers free counseling in multiple areas, including business planning, marketing, increasing sales, locating financing and more.
Since its inception more than 28 years ago, the SBDC has served more than 6,000 clients in Klamath and Lake Counties. “This is an important organization that offers vital services to the business community,” said KCC President Gerald Hamilton. “We are very pleased to have the Klamath Small Business Development Center at KCC.”
SBDC Director Jamie Albert expressed thanks to Oregon Tech for supporting the center for nearly three decades. “Oregon Tech has been an outstanding host and great to work with. The support they’ve given over the years has been imperative to the work we do,” she said. “Generally, however, small business development centers are co-located at community colleges. When we started 28 years ago, there was no community college in Klamath Falls. I know that this new partnership will be beneficial for the center, the college, and most of all, the businesses that we work with.”
Albert stressed that the move will not result in any changes to the services that the SBDC offers. “We are not going away,” she said. “We will still be offering the same services that we always have, we’ll just be doing so from a new location.”
In addition to free counseling services, the SBDC also offers access to small business resources, information and referral services and affordable small business seminars, workshops and conferences. Beginning July 1, the center may be contacted by phone at 541-880-2278, via email at email@example.com
