Maintaining Excellence through Continued Education
The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
sets the standards for ongoing training and education for Oregon firefighters.
Maintenance re-certification can be accomplished through your frequent use of your skills at work (service delivery) or by demonstrating your proficiency at firefighting skills (task performance) or through continuing education.
It usually takes a combination of experience, training and continuing education to stay current and proficient in this profession.
Training and experience will reinforce what you have learned but you need to take advantage of opportunities to discover more about new technologies and techniques that will make you a better firefighter.
What can KCC do for you?
KCC has partnered with its regional structural fire districts to identify and deliver the kinds of continuing education courses you want to stay on top of your profession.
