Summary of Job:
The Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student should possess conversational English skills and ability to be understood by customers one might be called upon to support. Acceptable writing and reading skills are a must to provide quality customer service and to support departmental documentation/job ticketing. The Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student should be a self‐starter who enjoys supporting others in problem resolution and instruction. A successful Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student will learn quickly, take direction well, possess deductive reasoning aptitude, and desire to assist others in a team environment. The candidate will be required to follow department policies and procedures in supporting the Help desk walk‐in and call‐in traffic. Customer service is paramount and the candidate should show ability to grow their service skills quickly while demonstrating empathy for the customer and their needs.

Essential Duties:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must regularly lift and carry small packages of up to 10 pounds.
  • May occasionally lift and carry boxes of supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and carry to other locations on the campus

  •    Staff the helpdesk, phone and email as assigned during normal operating hours
  •    Create tickets for customer issues as needed
  •    Use discretion in handling sensitive issues
  •    Assist IS staff when requested and other duties as assigned
  •    Have the flexibility to be placed in multiple roles and perform relevant duties
  •    Assist users with hardware and software as it relates to Klamath Community College
  •    Assist with technology and plug-ins (Java Runtime Environment JRE, QuickTime, etc.)
  •     Assist users and answer basic questions related to common applications (i.e. Microsoft  Office Suite)


  • Work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows programs
  • Ability to perform routine, detailed tasks with little supervision

KCC Bookstore Clerk

Summary of Job:
The Bookstore clerk delivers outstanding customer service to the KCC campus and community. Duties include assisting customers, receiving shipments, using the computerized inventory management system, organizing merchandise and replenishing shelves.

This position helps with the daily operations of the Klamath Community College Bookstore. The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Accurately perform cash register transactions.
  • Receive merchandise, stock and replenish shelves.
  • Assist with pulling and shipping e-commerce orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Have an in interest in retail sales and inventory management.
  • Able to resolve problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Able to interpret and present information and policies clearly and accurately.
  • Able to accurately operate a cash register and learn specialized software.
  • Must be friendly and enthusiastic when answering the telephone.
  • Must be detail-oriented, motivated, reliable and able to work under pressure and with diverse members of the community.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. This is not a clerical job. The employee must be able to lift and move boxes of books weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Study Food Worker
Department: Badger Burrow Cafe
Reports To: Food Services Manager

Summary of Job:
To provide food services to KCC students, staff, and patrons in a timely friendly manner. Follow up on orders and questions promptly, provide business-like replies to inquiries and requests, and perform all duties in an orderly manner.

Essential Duties:
include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Takes and writes food order slips according to verbal instructions per customer wishes
  • Serves meals and drinks over the counter to patrons.
  • Prepares sandwiches, salads, and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Operates cash register and makes change.
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Distributes and replenishes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Maintains clean dining area.
  • Adheres to State and County health standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain food handlers certification.
  • Segregates and removes garbage.

Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
You must report to work neat, clean, and ready to work.
No cell phone usage (answering, calling, texting) except during break or lunch periods.

Must be enrolled in at least six credits and eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study program.
DRESS CODE:          
Clothes must be clean and neat. 
Uniform shirts.  No long sleeve shirts. No shorts.  Pants must be ankle length.
No open toe shoes.  Shoes must be closed toe with heels and/or heel straps. 
Hair must be tied back and off your neck.

Work Study Lab Assistant
Department: General Education Science Department

Summary of Job:

The student worker is responsible for helping lab faculty maintain the science labs in a manner which optimizes the delivery of lab courses and fosters professionalism. This position is responsible for assisting instructors with the overall setup and upkeep of the labs.

Essential Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Participates in laboratory methods and safety training.
  • Assists in maintaining Chemical Inventory and Material Safety Data Sheet Data Base in Preparation Lab.
  • Organizes the lab materials, supplies, and equipment in preparation for labs.
  • Sets up labs for courses including the preparation of chemical solutions and the assembly of necessary materials and equipment.
  •  Disassembles, cleans, and returns equipment, materials, and glassware after labs. Replenishes materials and supplies as necessary.
  • Assists instructors with administrative duties such as copying, collating, and running errands—This does not include grading.
  • Helps in the preparation of various teaching aids such as charts, graphs, overheads, and handouts.
  • During labs the student may be directed by the lab instructor to assist students with lab assignments.
  • Assists lab instructors in maintaining Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and Preparation labs clean and orderly. This includes:
  • Wiping down bench-tops.
  • Cleaning sinks.
  • Appropriately disposing of waste chemicals.
  • Autoclaving biohazard materials.

  • Must be a student of KCC and have been successfully awarded federal work study on their FAFSA.
  • Must have successfully completed a lab course in Chemistry or Microbiology.
  • Good communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Computer literate with some experience with standard office equipment necessary.
  • Ability to follow proper precautions and safety procedures when working in the lab, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
