Community & Contract Education Work Study

Summary of Job:
Assists the Community & Contract Education department with filing, facility use requests, classroom and instructor needs as well as other projects as assigned. Also helps staff Admissions events as assigned.

Essential Duties:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Accurate and diligent class monitoring to ensure instructor and student class satisfaction. Maintenance of Facilities Use Request Forms to ensure the Facilities Dept. is properly apprised of upcoming Community and Contract Education events.
 
Packet preparation of class rosters and registration forms for each new class.
 
Responsible for filing documentation as needed in the Community & Contract Education department including the archiving of files as needed.
 
Maintenance of department belongings including, but not limited to: instructor needs, student tools, manuals, books, computers, etc.
 
Phone skills for speaking to community partners to coordinate and/or schedule classes as well as notify students if classes are canceled, rescheduled or relocated.
 
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including: Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint are preferred in order to prepare fliers, posters, and spreadsheets as directed.
 
Special projects that require internet and other research along with other projects as assigned.
 
Serve as the “Face of KCC” during Admissions events aimed at recruiting students.

Information Services Helpdesk

Summary of Job:
The Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student should possess conversational English skills and ability to be understood by customers one might be called upon to support. Acceptable writing and reading skills are a must to provide quality customer service and to support departmental documentation/job ticketing. The Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student should be a self‐starter who enjoys supporting others in problem resolution and instruction. A successful Information Services Helpdesk Work Study student will learn quickly, take direction well, possess deductive reasoning aptitude, and desire to assist others in a team environment. The candidate will be required to follow department policies and procedures in supporting the Help desk walk‐in and call‐in traffic. Customer service is paramount and the candidate should show ability to grow their service skills quickly while demonstrating empathy for the customer and their needs.

Essential Duties:

  • Must regularly lift and carry small packages of up to 10 pounds.
  • May occasionally lift and carry boxes of supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and carry to other locations on the campus

  •    Staff the helpdesk, phone and email as assigned during normal operating hours
  •    Create tickets for customer issues as needed
  •    Use discretion in handling sensitive issues
  •    Assist IS staff when requested and other duties as assigned
  •    Have the flexibility to be placed in multiple roles and perform relevant duties
  •    Assist users with hardware and software as it relates to Klamath Community College
  •    Assist with technology and plug-ins (Java Runtime Environment JRE, QuickTime, etc.)
  •     Assist users and answer basic questions related to common applications (i.e. Microsoft  Office Suite)

Qualifications:

  • Work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows programs
  • Ability to perform routine, detailed tasks with little supervision

Marketing Work Study Advancement Coordinator

Summary of Job:
The Work-study Advancement Coordinator will assist the KCC Marketing Department.

Essential Duties:
The position is to continue the efforts of the Marketing Coordinator with day to day operational duties to include:

  • Utilize and be active on social media to promote the Foundation and KCC through Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Assist marketing with database, letters and marketing projects as needed.
  • Research companies and organizations as possible donors to the college
  • Assist with Special Projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, with well-rounded communication skills, and must be organized.
  • Good people skills, enthusiasm, and sense of humor a must.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Work Study Facilities / Grounds Worker

Summary of Job:
Assists the facilities department with the physical cleaning, landscape, and special events setups.

Essential Duties:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Custodial:
 
Assists full time facility staff in the cleaning of campus facilities.  Includes wiping, washing, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning glass, empting trash and recycling,  
 
Sets up tables and chairs for special events.  May move furniture and equipment as needed.
 
Grounds:
 
Pulls weeds, prunes trees, mows lawns, waters plants, moves brush, plants, rakes leaves and all other activities concerning the care and appearance of the campus.
 
Shovels snow from sidewalks and stairs if needed.  Sweeps and collects litter and other debris.

Work Study Food Worker
Department: Badger Burrow Cafe
Reports To: Food Services Manager

Summary of Job:
To provide food services to KCC students, staff, and patrons in a timely friendly manner. Follow up on orders and questions promptly, provide business-like replies to inquiries and requests, and perform all duties in an orderly manner.

Essential Duties:
include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Takes and writes food order slips according to verbal instructions per customer wishes
  • Serves meals and drinks over the counter to patrons.
  • Prepares sandwiches, salads, and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Operates cash register and makes change.
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Distributes and replenishes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Maintains clean dining area.
  • Adheres to State and County health standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain food handlers certification.
  • Segregates and removes garbage.

Qualifications:
Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
 
You must report to work neat, clean, and ready to work.
 
No cell phone usage (answering, calling, texting) except during break or lunch periods.

Must be enrolled in at least six credits and eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study program.
 
DRESS CODE:          
Clothes must be clean and neat. 
Uniform shirts.  No long sleeve shirts. No shorts.  Pants must be ankle length.
No open toe shoes.  Shoes must be closed toe with heels and/or heel straps. 
Hair must be tied back and off your neck.
