CNA I & II

Program Description

Klamath Community College's Nursing Assistant Training Course (HEA 100) is a seven-credit course divided into lecture, lab and clinical classes. It prepares students for the Oregon State Board of Nursing: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam and provides workforce training aimed at entry-level positions in sub-acute centers, some hospitals and doctors' offices, as well as academic transfer credits required with some nursing programs. Students study personal care skills, nutrition, safety, legal and ethical issues, infection control, emergency care, and interpersonal skills.

CDL

Program Description

Commercial Driving provides training to help students gain the qualifications to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and job in the industry. The course covers all of the aspects needed to safely operate a vehicle and complete a CDL drive test.
Applicants will need to obtain and submit a copy of their DMV driving record showing their history of traffic accidents, violations, and or convictions (including DUI, license suspensions, etc.) Participants will also be required to pass a drug screen and DOT physical prior to the start of training.

Phlebotomy

Program Description

The focus of this course is on acquiring proficiency needed to carry out successful blood draw and specimen processing for the purpose of clinical laboratory analysis in preparation for national certification. Principles of communication, quality control, safety and caring interventions will be included. At the end of this class students will be ready to test for their AMT or NHA certification.

Pharmacy Tech

Program Description

Pharmacy Technicians are sought-after professionals who work in hospitals, drug stores, and grocery store pharmacies. At the end of this course students will show proficiency in interpreting prescriptions, entering and accessing data using a computer, preparing medications and prescription labels, entering medical insurance billing information, understanding and communicating technical information to customers, and maintaining forms and records. This course will prepare students to sit for their national certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Dental Radiology

Program Description

The KCC Dental Radiology Course will prepare candidates for both the Oregon Dental Radiology Certification Exam and the ability to take radiographs in the dental office. Students can expect a hybrid online and in-person class that will allow flexibility for students to learn the clinical applications of dental radiography. Topics covered include radiation safety, patient positioning, dental anatomy, and infection control. Classes are interactive and student participation is encouraged.

Dental Assisting

Program Description

The KCC Introduction to Dental Assisting course will prepare candidates for the Dental Assisting National Board Exam and give them the ability to work chairside in a dental office. Students can expect a hybrid online and in-person class that provides flexibility for students to extern at local dental offices. The curriculum will focus on clinical applications of dentistry. Classes will be interactive and students are expected to participate in clinical discussions and presentations.

Medical Assisting

30 WEEKS


Program Description

This is a 20 week program that consists of classes 2 days per week for a total of 110 classroom hours. In addition, each student will be required to complete 90 externship hours in a clinical setting. After the successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) National Certification Exam.
