KLAMATH FALLS – Klamath Community College is proud to announce it has been named a Military Friendly school for a fifth consecutive year.
“KCC has worked hard to ensure veterans and enlisted military members have access to higher education. We are dedicated to serving student populations in the Klamath Basin and the airmen across the country with their Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) goals,” said KCC Director of Veterans Services Tracy Heap.
The Military Friendly designation, awarded by Victory Media, honors colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.
Now for a fifth year, KCC will be included in a list of Military Friendly designees that is provided to service members and their families to promote education opportunities that can better help them pursue a civilian career. It also helps military families make the best use of the GI Bill and other federal benefits and to find success in their chosen career fields.
Since 2013 KCC has supported airmen in the pursuit of their CCAF degrees, which require completing 15 general education credits. In October 2016, KCC celebrated a new “Base to Bachelor’s” partnership with Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande, that allows active duty airmen to pursue a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Business Administration from anywhere in the world.
“KCC’s Veterans Service office is dedicated to delivering college courses that help members of the military advance in service and in civilian life,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez. “Our college will continue rising to the challenge of providing higher education opportunities for veterans and enlisted officers at home and around the globe.”
Institutions that earn a Military Friendly designation are evaluated using public data sources and responses from surveys conducted by Victory Media. KCC’s final ratings were determined by combining survey scores with assessments that evaluated student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
Victory Media publishes G.I. Jobs, STEM JobsSM, and Military Spouse.
