Klamath Community College is pleased to announce that it has been designated a 2016 Military Friendly School by Victory Media.
Now in its sixth year, the Military Friendly Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.
The methodology used for making the Military Friendly Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past six years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the county. This is the second straight year that KCC has earned the designation.
“We are extremely proud of this designation,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez. “We have worked hard in recent years to expand service to veterans and active duty military personnel in our community and beyond, and this honor illustrates that hard work and commitment.”
After piloting a successful partnership with the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls last year, KCC will be offering classes on site at the 142nd Fighter Wing base in Portland this year. “We are very excited to continue serving the members of the 173rd Fighter Wing while also expanding services to the 142nd Fighter Wing this year,” Dr. Gutierrez said. “As we continue to build on these partnerships we expect to be able to serve these communities even better in the future.”
