KLAMATH FALLS – Klamath Community College is proud to announce it has earned the 2017 Military Friendly School designation by Victory Media.

Victory Media publishes G.I. Jobs, STEM JobsSM, and Military Spouse.

The Military Friendly designation, which identifies KCC as a school that supports military veterans, will be provided to service members and their families to promote education opportunities that can better help them pursue a civilian career. It also helps military families make the best use of the GI Bill® and other federal benefits and to find success in their chosen career fields.

“We are proud to have been selected for the fourth consecutive year to be awarded the Military Friendly designation. I think it shows our department’s determination to provide a quality experience for veteran students at Klamath Community College,” said KCC Director of Veterans Services Tracy Heap.
Since 2013, KCC has supported the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), which enables airmen to complete 15 general education credits that are required to earn a CCAF degree.

In October, KCC cemented and celebrated a new “Base to Bachelor’s” partnership with Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande, that allows active duty airmen to pursue a bachelor’s of applied science in business administration from anywhere in the world.

“We are grateful to be recognized for the efforts our administration and staff have made to ensure college is accessible to everyone, including active military members and veterans,” said KCC President Roberto Gutierrez. “We look forward to working with servicemen and women who want to improve their lives through higher education.”

Institutions that earned the Military Friendly designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from surveys conducted by Victory Media. KCC’s final ratings were determined by combining survey scores with assessments that evaluated student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“Our ability to apply a clear, consistent standard to the majority of colleges gives veterans a comprehensive view of which schools are striving to provide the best opportunities and conditions for our nation’s student veterans,” said Daniel Nichols, a Navy Reserve veteran and chief product officer at Victory Media.
