Doug Kirby, Program Leader will speak on the new Digital Media and Design Program at KCC as well as provide examples of local innovation and entrepreneurship. These examples go to the heart of the new program.
“We want our students to be trained with the best media and technology skills and be fully prepared to compete for these jobs. We also want their inspiration to prepare them to explore entrepreneurial opportunities, whether it is here locally, or in a larger market” says Kirby. He went on to say, “This innovative program will inspire students to explore multiple pathways for their careers.”
Kirby believes that innovation is a learned skill and studying entrepreneurship helps create a mindset that fosters and makes all this possible.
Students will learn how to search out problems in the marketplace and then, back in the classroom, design solutions. Students enrolled in this new program will participate in a series of classes that teach them how to be thought leaders and master some the newest technologies found at any leading college or university; video production, mobile app development, graphics for design, web page design, and the newest -- augmented reality (AR).
Kirby also sits on the Executive Board of the Klamath IDEA in Klamath Falls, and leads the weekly Klamath Entrepreneurs Meet-up group.
