Klamath Community College’s accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is scheduled for reevaluation in 2018.

NWCCU is one of six regional organizations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit postsecondary institutions within the United States. The Commission is incorporated as a legally established, private 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation for the expressed purpose of accrediting higher education institutions in the seven-state Northwest region, which includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

An on-site evaluation of Klamath Community College by a NWCCU-selected committee of higher education peers is scheduled for April 18-20, 2018, as part of NWCCU’s comprehensive evaluation for re-accreditation. The purpose of this visit is to independently evaluate the College pursuant to the Commission’s accreditation standards and eligibility requirements.

Klamath Community College is currently accredited by NWCCU and has been since 2005, being the newest community college in the state of Oregon to be regionally accredited. Being an accredited institution indicates that the College meets the Commission's established standards of educational quality and effectiveness, and indicates: 1) has clearly defined and appropriate educational objectives; 2) operates under conditions by which achievement of those educational objectives can reasonably be expected; 3) is substantially accomplishing its educational objectives; and 4) is organized, staffed, and supported to warrant confidence that it will continue to achieve its educational objectives in the foreseeable future.

The most recent action from NWCCU related to Klamath Community College’s accreditation was on February 12, 2016, when the NWCCU Board of Commissioners accepted Klamath Community College’s Fall 2015 Ad Hoc Report.

Klamath Community College invites the submission of comments with regard to qualification for candidacy or accreditation directly to the Commission. In order to be considered, comments must be received by the Commission no later than March 18, 2019.
