The Health Information Management department at Klamath Community College is committed to our students. We offer an inclusive, comprehensive, and high-quality education program that's accessible. Our aim is to prepare students to become ethical team players in health information technology. Students will work alongside clinical and administrative professionals in various healthcare and non-healthcare environments. We prioritize lifelong learning, community needs, and professional standards.

The associate degree Health Information Management Program is in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

This program may provide prior learning credit and extended learning opportunities for persons previously or currently employed in related professions.

What Will I Learn?

  • How to document, manage, and use medical information in the healthcare setting.
  • How to use clinical quality measures and/or core objectives for patient care.
  • Classification and terminology systems for diagnosis and procedure codes for patient data.
  • How to collect, report, and interpret database information and statistics.
  • How to research and apply specific scenarios of laws and policies and procedures within health care.
  • Collaborating to facilitate change, mentor, and engage stakeholders in the healthcare environment.
  • Professionalism skills in the practicum setting.


How Will I Learn It?

If you choose to learn online, you will have 24/7 access to the online classroom, learning resources, and support. With no set class times, your learning will be flexible to you.

If you choose to learn in the classroom, you will have set class times and face-to-face communication with instructors and peers.
