Are you a seasonal farm worker? You and your family can obtain a GED at Klamath Community College.
The High School Equivalency Program, also known as HEP, helps seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members obtain a GED in Spanish or English. If you qualify for the program, you can enroll at any time throughout the year.

Earn your GED
HEP helps eligible students build the academic skills necessary to obtain a GED. Classes are available in Spanish or English.
No cost to students
This program does not have a cost for eligible students. HEP offers classes, books, materials, tutoring, and additional support services.
In-person or online
HEP offers classes in person and online, so students can stay connected even if they live far away, have schedule conflicts, or need flexibility because of weather.
HEP supports eligible seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members.
How to qualify
Who qualifies for the HEP program?
HEP is designed for seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members. Eligibility is based on age, agricultural work history, or participation in related migrant or farmworker programs.
Age requirement
Be at least 16 years of age or older.
Agricultural work requirement
You must have worked at least 75 days in agriculture, or have an immediate family member who has worked at least 75 days within the last 24 months.
Eligible agricultural work may include
Crops, dairy products, poultry or livestock, cultivation or harvesting of trees including nursery or forestry work, or fish farming.
Other qualifying programs
You may also qualify if you participated within the past 24 months in a Migrant Education Program, also known as MEP, or the National Farmworker Jobs Program, also known as NFJP.

How to get started
Start your HEP application process
Call or visit HEP to determine your eligibility and learn what you need to begin.
1. Contact HEP
Call or visit us to determine your eligibility. You can also ask questions or schedule an appointment.
2. Complete the intake process
Fill out an application, take an intake test, and attend HEP orientation.
3. Begin classes
Classes are available in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and in the evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
After GED completion
Transition into your next opportunity
The HEP program's main goal is to help seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members obtain a GED in Spanish or English, and transition them into college, training programs, military service, or better employment.
