What is the Difference Between Graduation and Commencement?
Commencement: is the annual ceremony KCC has for those students who have earned a degree or certificate during Fall and Winter terms, or expect to earn one during Spring or Summer term.
Graduation Process
Check My Degree Progress
Checking My Degree Progress. is important because it tells you if you have finished all the classes you need to graduate. It shows which courses you have completed and which ones are still required. If everything on the audit is checked off, it might be time for you to graduate. This tool helps you see if you are missing anything important before you can get your diploma. By looking at your My Degree Progress, you can make sure you are on track and ready to finish school on time.
Make an Appointment with Your Advisor
Meet with your Advisor. and review your Advising Worksheet. to ensure you are on track to complete all your requirements for the degree or certificate in the Expected term and year you select.
Petition to Graduate
Students should apply for graduation two terms before completion to confirm all requirements are met. File a Petition to Graduate. form from your MyKCC account. After filing, report any changes to the Registrar’s Office. KCC reserves the right to award an earned certificate or degree without a petition to graduate.
