MacKenzie Sutherlin

MacKenzie Sutherlin points out that going for one’s GED is “not as scary as one thinks.”

Sutherlin was fairly shy at returning to school to take her High School Graduate Equivalency Degree testing at Klamath Community Colleges K-CET program

“But my instructors and my experience was great,” she said. “The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.”

If she could describe the feeling of passing her GED, which she did recently, it would be “success.”

“I was a bit fearful at first, worried I would be judged for not having a GED. But K-CET was very helpful, like a small community or family,” she said.

What really stuck out for her was how everyone made her feel taking the exams.

“I had never been great at math, and after the math portion, I broke down in tears because I thought I had failed,” she said. “But the teacher waited with me for the results to come back and it turns out that I passed. I cried happy tears.”

“I would absolutely would recommend anyone to step up and take their GED program.”
