Applying to Klamath Community College

Klamath Community College (KCC) offers open admission to qualified international students.

✅ The application is FREE and most students complete it in less than 30 minutes.

The application process is simple and can be completed in a few steps:

Step 1 – Gather Your Documents

All students (online and in-person) must submit:

• Copy of unofficial high school transcripts
• English language proficiency documentation
• National ID card or passport bio page (online students)

Students planning to study in person (F-1 or M-1 visa) must also submit:

• KCC Financial Guarantee Form
• Recent bank statement showing $23,255+ USD (dated within 6 months)
• Passport bio page (in person students)

Step 2 – Complete the KCC International Application

Submit your application through the KCC International Student Application portal.

Step 3 – Attend a Virtual Meeting with an Advisor

All applicants are required to attend a brief virtual meeting with a KCC International Programs advisor. You will receive an email with instructions for scheduling your meeting after submitting your application.

Step 4 – Complete Placement Testing

Students will complete required placement exams (reading and writing) before registration.

Step 5 – Final Steps

• Submit official college transcripts (if applicable)
• Apply for a U.S. student visa (in-person students only)
• Register for classes

Important Dates

International students should apply early to allow time for processing and (if applicable) visa approval.

*Students on an F1 visa are not eligible to begin their studies in summer term.

Notes on Admission Requirements

International Student (In-Person)

A student who requires a Form I-20 to study in the United States. Most students will also need an F-1 visa and will be charged international tuition rates.

International Online Student

A student who resides outside the U.S. and studies fully online. Students are charged out-of-state tuition rates and do not need a visa.

High School Requirement

High school programs must be recognized or accredited by a national or regional authority. Students may apply before graduating but must complete high school before starting classes at KCC.

English Language Requirement

All courses at KCC are taught in English. Students must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to succeed in college-level coursework.

Financial Guarantee & Bank Statement

Required by the U.S. government to issue your I-20. Bank statements must:

• Be issued within the last 6 months
• Show sufficient funds to cover one academic year (9 months) of study

Passport Requirement

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in the United States.

Transfer Students

Students transferring from another U.S. institution must:

• Have an active SEVIS record
• Be in good academic and immigration standing
• Submit a completed Transfer Request Form signed by a DSO

KCC may request additional documentation before approving transfer eligibility.

Program Selection Information

Program Delivery

• Programs may be offered online, in person, or through a combination of both.

• Some programs require in-person courses, labs, clinical experiences, or other hands-on training and cannot be completed fully online.

• Students planning to study online from outside the United States should confirm that their selected program can be completed entirely online.

International Recognition of Degrees and Certificates

• Recognition of U.S. degrees and certificates varies by country.

• Before enrolling, students should verify that their selected credential will be recognized in the country where they plan to work or continue their education.

• Some countries may not recognize certain U.S. credentials or may require additional evaluation, education, certification, or licensing.

Program Specific Notes

Aviation

• Aviation programs are not currently approved for international (F-1) students.

• International students should select another eligible program when applying.

Apprenticeship

• Apprenticeship programs combine college coursework with long-term, employer-based training.

• Most apprenticeship programs require approximately four years of employment and on-the-job training.

• Because of the employment and training requirements, these programs are generally not a viable option for international students studying on an F-1 visa.

Nursing

• Students must complete required prerequisite courses before they are eligible to apply to the Nursing program.

• Applications for the Nursing program open in the Spring.

• Admission is competitive and limited to a small number of seats.

• Priority is given to local applicants, so admission for international students may be very limited.

• The program prepares students for U.S.-based nursing licensure.  Licensure requirements vary by country, and the credential may no transfer or qualify graduates for licensure outside the United States.

Surgical Technology

• Students must complete required prerequisite courses before they are eligible to apply to the Surgical Technology program.

•  Applications for the Surgical Technology program open in the Spring.

• Admission is competitive and limited to a small number of seats.

• Priority is given to local applicants, so admission for international students may be very limited.

• The program prepares students for U.S.-based professional certification and employment. Requirements vary by country, and the credential may not transfer or qualify graduates to practice outside the United States.

Bachelor's Degree Programs

• KCC's bachelor's degree programs are offered 100% online.

• These programs cannot be completed in person at KCC.

• Students seeking F-1 status to study in the United States should select an eligible in-person program.

Certificate Programs

• International students may enroll in approved one-year certificate programs.

• Certificate programs that can be completed in less than one year are not available for in-person international student enrollment.

• International students seeking F-1 status should select an approved one-year certificate, associate degree, or other eligible program.

Immunization Requirements

Students participating in allied health clinical experiences, education or child care practicum, or intercollegiate athletics may be subject to additional immunization requirements.

Students participating in these activities who were born on or after January 1, 1957, must provide documentation of two doses of measles vaccine before participating.

Students subject to this requirement must submit the Oregon Certificate of Immunization Status for Colleges & Universities.
