4:30 pm - Graduates who are walking must arrive and commence to the holding area in Building 4 where you will receive your name and degree card and line up according to your academic program (major). Listen carefully to the instructions as things move quickly.

5:15 pm - Group photos taken in Building 4. Please have your guests wait outside during this time.

6:00 pm - Graduates will march out to the commencement lawn located on the south side of Founders Hall (Building 9) to be seated for the ceremony.

What’s the difference between Graduation and Commencement?

Graduation and Commencement mean two different things:

  • Graduation is when you officially complete all of your degree or certificate requirements. The Registrar’s Office reviews your petition to graduate, verifies your classes, and records your credential on your transcript. You can graduate whether or not you attend a ceremony.

  • Commencement is the ceremony we hold each spring to celebrate students who have graduated or are graduating that year. It’s when you walk across the stage in your cap and gown, hear your name announced, and celebrate with family, friends, and the KCC community.

In short: Graduation is the official award of your degree or certificate. Commencement is the celebration of that achievement.
