What is agriculture science?

Agriculture science is the study of soil cultivation, crop production, livestock care and raising, planting, and raising fish. The AAS in Agriculture Science is designed for those students seeking a career in the agriculture industry and to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful as an entrepreneur, employee, or as a student at a four-year institution.

What is the difference between agriculture and horticulture?

Agriculture is concerned with growing food crops and raising animals for farming. Horticulture is the study of cultivating plants using different methods. Though there is some overlap between the two, agriculture touches most of the food chain and the processes that take place within it.

Is this degree only for farmers?

Not necessarily. Students taking this degree will receive education in animal science, plant science, soil science, agribusiness management, agriculture mechanization, and natural resource management. The combination of these skills and abilities will prepare students for the exciting challenges awaiting them in the field of agriculture.
