Student Success Story: Elissa Rowlan
- Student Success Story

Elissa Rowlan wanted to be a role model for her children, some of whom will soon be entering high school.
“I have four kids who look up to me and I wanted to help them find their own career path in high school,” she said. “With a GED, I can help them understand the process of high school.”
She also has set goals for herself, as she is now attending Klamath Community College and taking a full load of classes, hoping to graduate with an Associates of Science.
“Some of the skills I obtained through K-CET included time management and understanding how important good grades are,” she said. “With four children, you can understand how difficult time management can be.”
The classes allowed Elissa to hold herself accountable for pursuing the goals she wants to reach, she said.
The K-CET instructors were very supportive and never doubted Elissa’s ability, she said, allowing her to graduate within six weeks with a GED.
“It has really changed my life for the better. It is an easy process to get started, but it takes your determination to complete. Many times, students don’t complete high school because they don’t feel they are ready. But when you are older, you can go back to school and do much better at it. K-CET helps you do that.”
“I think it is great for anyone who wants to continue their education,” she said.
