Lorenz Bank made a promise to his dad he’d graduate high school with a GED. He recently fulfilled that promise.

His father had taken ill while Bank was in high school. He dropped out to care for him. Two days prior to graduation, his father died.

“Getting a GED was something that I promised my dad before he died,” Bank said.
Bank’s initial expectations to obtaining a GED was confusing he said.

“I never knew how it worked. It was very different seeing it on my own,” he said. “I knew that I needed to get it done.”

Prior to attending K-CET, Bank had outstanding loans and bills to pay. He said once he got clear of those he decided to get his GED. He was offered a job in a bank, but was turned down without a high school diploma.

After obtaining a GED, he said, “It was kind of a nice feeling that I can do that job now. K-CET opened my eyes to the possibilities. It opens more doors to better-paying jobs.”

Two impactful moments. The first day, showing the courses, practice tests, and the second moment my teacher let go of the wheel and let me drive. The path that I followed was the best path for me made it successful.

There are multiple parts to the GED testing, but they all fit together nicely, Bank said.

“I would recommend the program to someone else. K-CET has allowed me to put my foot in the door of higher education. If anyone had outside struggles they will benefit from this program, it because the program works with people.”
