Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for the TRiO Student Support Services Program?

Program students must be citizens or Nationals of the United States or meet the residency requirements for federal financial assistance, be enrolled at the College or accepted for enrollment to the College, and meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • A first-generation college student where neither parent completed a 4-year college degree
  • Demonstrate financial or economic need
  • An individual with a documented disability

To discuss your eligibility and complete an application contact us at: TRiO@klamathcc.edu or 541-880-2289.

How regularly do I meet with a TRiO Advisor?

Students meet with an advisor three times each quarter throughout the school year. They are assigned to a primary advisor to determine their learning strengths and challenges and devise an Academic Success Plan outlining the most appropriate services TRiO and the College can provide.

If I’m a student with a learning disability, what documentation do I need to be a program participant?

Learning disabilities should be documented with Disability Services. TRiO does not need verification of a disability. For more information about this, go to www.klamathcc.edu/Students/Disability-Accommodations

If I am a Veteran, should I provide proof of my Veteran status when turning in my application?

Documentation of Veteran status is not necessary when applying to the TRiO program.

Is everyone accepted into the program?

Unfortunately, per federal regulations, TRiO can only serve a maximum of 140 students per year. Students should turn their applications in as early as possible in order to improve their chances of being accepted into the program.
