Multi-Factor Authentication

To better protect our users and applications against unauthorized access, KCC is introducing Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). MFA is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or VPN. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.

What's Changing?

Web applications and services, such as MyKCC, Canvas, and Office 365 logins will require multi-factor authentication.

How MFA Works:

Multi-factor authentication adds an additional layer of security when you sign into certain systems, apps, or websites. When logging in, you will combine your MyKCC login information with a secondary credential. The secondary residential will be sent through a phone call, text message, or through an authenticator app. This helps to prevent anyone else from logging in to your account, even if they know your password.

The MFA Process:

  1. Enter your MyKCC login information.
  2. Follow the instructions on the prompt to authenticate using your phone or other method.
  3. Get securely signed in to your account.
