What is College Now?
Klamath Community College partners with several area high schools to offer "College Now" to their students. This program assists in planning and coordinating to bring high school students onto KCC's campus to take courses and have an actual on-campus experience. This program is supported and paid for by the districts. Please see your high school counselor for details and requirements.Are these courses available year-round?

Through several local high schools, Klamath Community College offers high school students distance education courses, often referred to as online courses, at no cost to the student. Dual Credit FAQ
What is Dual Credit?
In Dual Credit courses, the high school teacher is qualified to act as a proxy faculty member for the college or university when teaching the course. These courses are sufficiently similar to enable the student to be described as "taking a course" from the postsecondary institution. Through ORS 340.310, HECC was charged with developing standards for Dual Credit and other high school based college credit partnership programs.Oregon Department of Education Dual Credit definition

Dual Credit allows students to earn college credit while attending high school. In fact, students can accumulate a great number of college credits - for free - while in high school. In some cases students can even earn a college certificate or degree by the time they earn a high school diploma. Additionally, college credits earned in high school will be transferable to any number of colleges and universities.Additionally, Dual Credit helps by:
- Expanding academic options for high school students.
- Saving time and money.
- Earning college credit while in high school - at no cost.
- Classes are taught at your high school for convenience.
- Starting college coursework earlier means earning certificates and degrees earlier.
- Identifying educational goals and interests earlier.
Who are the positive outcomes of students enrolling in Dual Credit classes?
Studies show that Dual Credit increases the likelihood that a student will complete high school, and enroll in and persist in college. Dual credit students who go on to college continue to second year at a higher rate than freshman who enter college without having earned Dual Credit. Among freshman who continue to the second year of college, Dual Credit participants earn a higher first-year GPA. Tuition and fee costs are decreased by accelerating time to a degree.What are the eligibility requirements for students?

There are no costs related to a high school student participating in the Dual Credit at Klamath Community College if you live in Oregon. Dual credit costs are $25 per credit for out of state students.How does a student enroll in Dual Credit courses?

Oregon Promise covers some or all of the tuition at an Oregon community college. Oregon Promise is for recent Oregon high school graduates and GED recipients who enroll in an Oregon community college within six months of graduation. For full-time students, awards range from $1,000 to $3,397 per year, depending on your financial need and other state and federal grants you have been awarded. The college will automatically deduct a $50 co-pay from the award each term.
