The International Association of Administrative Professionals defines administrative professionals as individuals who are responsible for administrative tasks and coordination of information in support of an office related environment and who are dedicated to furthering their personal and professional growth in their chosen profession.

Is an administrative office professional the same as a secretary?

The phrase administrative professional can be an official title or a general title associated with administrative support staff. Sometimes informally called admins or admin professionals (the short version of administrative professionals), these are the administrative support system of corporate in America and globally. You’ll find them using titles in the workplace such as administrative assistant, administrative secretary, executive administrative assistant, executive assistant, senior administrative assistant and even office manager1.
