Strategic Plan FAQs

Klamath Community College means business in improving the lives of our students and the community where we live.  We have developed a clear strategy to guide the college and community to a better future.

Why strategic?  The word strategic implies a unifying of purpose and actions towards future accomplishments.  It provides guidance for more focused operations such as the Academic Plan, Enrollment Plan, or Department plans.

The strategic plan provides long-term goals, unifies all our planning efforts, and provides a venue to celebrate and publish our accomplishments.

Who has a say in the plan?  KCC’s strategic plans are developed with input from local, national, and regional businesses, agencies, political leaders, the KCC Board of Education, and all KCC employees.

What makes it work?  The key to success in strategic planning is the Plan's role in the college’s budget process. Every department's budget requests are linked directly to initiatives in the strategic plan.  Successful budget proposals must explain returns on investment that fulfill strategic initiatives.

How long does a strategic plan last? On a 3-year cycle, every department is actively involved in carrying out critical parts of the strategic plan.
