Commencement 2017

Commencement will take place at 6 p.m., June 16, at the KCC Klamath Falls campus.

Cap and Gown

Are available for purchase at the KCC Bookstore for $29.95 for the set. You may drop in Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm to pick yours up, prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Note: This year's Commencement will be held in the grassy section between buildings 5 & 6. Please keep this in mind when considering footwear. Shoes with a high heel may not be the most appropriate option.


There are no tickets.  We are excited to celebrate your accomplishments. This is a public event and we want you to invite as many guests as you would like, with the understanding that seating is limited and there will not be reserved seating available.  If you have guests with disabilities, please be advised that there will be assistance available during the commencement ceremony.

What is Commencement?

Commencement is the annual ceremony KCC has for those who have degrees conferred during Fall and Winter terms or expect for a degree to be conferred during Spring or Summer terms.

Commencement Program

Your name will appear in the Commencement Program, if you submitted your petition to graduate prior to the deadline.

During the commencement ceremony you will receive your diploma cover only

Inside your diploma cover you will receive a letter explaining that final grades are needed to confirm your degree status. Your actual diploma will be mailed to you once your degree requirements have been met and after grades are in.  This process can take up to 10 weeksYou do not have to attend commencement to receive your degree or diploma cover. If you decide not to attend the ceremony, you may pick up your diploma cover at the Registrar’s office beginning Monday, June 19. You may also have your diploma cover mailed to you with your diploma.

Ceremony order of events

Graduates please plan to arrive at 4:30pm and commence to the holding area where you will receive your name and degree card. Degree areas will be called and you will line up according to your program. Listen carefully to the instructions as things move quickly.  There will be a group photo taken at 5:15pm. At 6:00 pm you will march in to be seated for the ceremony.

Acceptable Regalia

Approved adornments show academic honors, leadership or service:
  • High academic achievement:
    • Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) students wear an honors cord, a gold stole, and a gold tassel on their caps.
    • Students receiving honors at graduation do not require special adornments, but will stand and be recognized at Commencement.
  • Leadership:
    • Officers of Associated Students of Klamath Community College (ASKCC) wear a medallion, designed by each year’s ASKCC President
    • Student Success Mentors wear a pin no more than one inch in diameter


All graduates, members of their families and guest are invited to a reception immediately following the Commencement Ceremony.  This reception features light refreshments and photo opportunities.

Assistance for Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities who may need accommodations at commencement should contact the Registrar’s Office in advance.

Alcohol and Smoking

Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited during Commencement and the corresponding events.  Please do not bring alcohol to the lineup, processional, ceremony or reception.


Parking on campus will be available; however, it will be limited due to current construction work.  We encourage all those who can to carpool.  Best access will be from the south entrance.  Special ADA parking will be by Building-6.
